Apparently, the Republican party STILL doesn't get it! Naomi Klein in her book "Shock Doctrine" explains how when the unregulated, free market fails, the answer by those proponents of this approach is simply to do more of the same. Rep. John Boehner of Ohio is insisting the Pres. Obama's stimulus package MUST have more tax cuts for the rich. I mean, after all, the wealthy was just simply unable to satiate their greed during the past 30 years. I hardly think there is a republican on the hill that has any right to start criticizing someone else's plan.
I wrote an email to Boehner only to discover he takes emails only from his constituents. That is wrong and cowardly. He is the leader of the repubs. in the House, giving him enough power to be on tv everyday, giving him enough power to control the rep. side of the house, giving him the power to affect all Americans. Therefore, he should be available to all Americans, or Sir, do not take a leadership role.
Therefore I will be calling his toll free number: 1-800-582-1001
He also has another number: 202-225-6205 but use the toll free number if you can get through.
and writing him at:
1011 Longworth House Office Bldg.
District of Columbia 20515-3508
Will he help the American people, set aside politics and ideology(particularly one that hasn't worked for anyone, anywhere but the wealthy) and support Pres. Obama or WILL HE BE AN OBSTRUCTIONIST?????
Lessons for patriots: contact your congressmen and women, let them know you expect them to think of the American people and their interests first, for a change, instead of the interests of big business and the wealthy. Yep, time to go to work for Pres. Obama, the American people, and those all around the world. Are you up to the task? I will be emailing, calling and writing snail mail letters to both my Republican congressmen. While it seems futile, a Patriot is never daunted by the possibility of futility!
Hi Sharon,
ReplyDeleteIt sounds, that you're gonna be very busy...! But that's good! People who don't work for changing things for the better can also not expect a better world...
I don't know, if you have received it, but I've sent you an e-mail last night and I have also answered your long comment with an even longer (sorry!) comment on my blog. I don't share your points of views down to every detail, but I think, we basically do agree and do all want the same and it's good that you are willing to go into action for it!
By the way: civilians who carry guns or keep them in their homes/cars do make me feel uneasy, because I do wonder why they are this scared? Why do they have so little selfconfidence? And somebody like that is also not likely to be mentally up to handling the worst case-scenario, where you really have to stay cool and calm and make sure you make the right decision. I really would fear that such a person would either harm her/himself with that gun or innocent bystanders or that the aggressor would immediatly take it out of the person's hand and use it against her/him, where else he would not have been provoked that easily without the rediculous attempt of self-defence...
A nother thing: Why don't you say some more about this book "Shock doctrine"? it does sound very intersting.
